KUCHING: Seven young Sarawakian gymnasts will compete at the Malaysian Gymnastics Federation (MGF) National Rhythmic Gymnastics Grading Competition from Apr 10 to 12 in Ipoh, Perak.
The athletes will take part in the Little Gymnast, Levels 1 and 2 categories as part of efforts to test themselves at national level.
Sarawak Amateur Gymnastics Association (SAGYMA) president Johnny Tan Seng Hock said the participation is aimed at providing early exposure to a national-level competition environment.
“It allows our gymnasts to experience a higher level of competition at an early stage.
“The competition will also allow us to assess the gymnasts’ technical skills and overall development based on the grading system set by MGF,” he said.
Tan added that the event will provide valuable insights for coaches in evaluating the effectiveness of current training programmes.
“This kind of competition helps to build confidence, discipline and competitive experience among our gymnasts.
“We can use this platform to assess our training programmes and make the necessary improvements moving forward”, he added.
