MIRI:  A total of seven temporary relief centres (PPS) remain operational here as of this morning, according to Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin.

Speaking during a visit to the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Chapter, on Monday (Feb 3), which is serving as one of the PPS for flood and landslide victims, Lee confirmed that 182 evacuees were housed across the seven centres as of 10 am today (Feb 4).

“The Tudan Community Service Centre has now been closed,” Lee said. “This leaves us with seven PPS still in operation, accommodating displaced families from various affected villages.”

Among those relocated, 11 families from Kampung Tudan have been moved to Masjid Darul Iman, while six families remain at the centre. Meanwhile, 33 families from Kampung Pujut Tanjong Batu continue to seek refuge at the PPS.

Earlier in the day, Lee attended a handover ceremony for dry food and hygiene kits provided to flood and landslide victims.

The seven relief centres still in operation are: MRC Miri,  Balai Raya Kampung Pujut Tanjong Batu, Dewan Kampung Sukan Kampun, SK Agama Miri, Masjid Darul Iman Tudan Phase 2, and Balai Raya Kampung Pujut Adong.

Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely, ensuring that those affected receive the necessary support and assistance.
