SEOUL, South Korea: K-pop groups, Seventeen, and BlackPink members, Lisa and Rose, have been named on the 2025 A100 list by Unites States (US)-based non-profit Gold House, which honours the year’s most impactful Asians and Pacific Islanders in the US.
According to Yonhap news agency, the annual list, announced on Thursday (US time), recognises 100 individuals who have made significant cultural and societal contributions in the country.
Gold House described Seventeen as a ‘K-pop icon’, praising the group for rising to prominence since their debut in May 2015.
It highlighted their unique in-house creative system built around three distinct units: hip-hop, vocal, and performance.
“As Seventeen marks their 10th anniversary this year, they continue to reinvent themselves beyond a decade, defying expectations with their relentless ambition and ever-expanding musical spectrum,” the organisation said.
Lisa was recognised not only for her success with BlackPink, but also as a solo artist.
Gold House noted her singles ‘Lalisa’ and ‘Money’ charted in the top 10 of the Billboard Global 200.
Rose was highlighted for her solo debut album ‘rosie’ and her collaboration APT. with Bruno Mars.
These achievements include the highest-charting album by a Korean female soloist on the Billboard 200 and the first song by a Korean female artist to top the US Top 40 radio chart.
Other Korean figures featured on this year’s list include Nobel laureate author, Han Kang, e-sports star, Faker (Lee Sang Hyeok) from team T1, actors, Lee Byung Hun and Lee Jung Jae, and Squid Game director, Hwang Dong-hyuk.
Girl group ‘aespa’ was also recognised, appearing on the New Gold list, which spotlights rising leaders making an impact across the Asia-Pacific region. – BERNAMA-YONHAP
