SFC gets court permission to dispose of seized meat

SIBU: The Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday (May 20) allowed applications made by the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) to dispose of about half a tonne of wild animal parts and freezers seized here.

Senior Assistant Registrar, Jessica Lee, who sat as Magistrate, allowed the applications submitted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ronald Felix Hardin of the State Attorney-General’s Chambers who appeared on behalf of SFC.

He told the court that all the seized exhibits are of perishable nature and were seized from residences, shophouses and pasar tamu.

Among the wild animal meat seized are those of wild boar (Sus barbatus Suidae species), deer (Cervus Unicolor species), reptile belonging to the python species, and mousedeer (Tragulus kanchil species).

Several wildlife officers attended the court proceedings.
