KUCHING: Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) was the first stop of the Jelajah Kesihatan Borneo (JKB), an initiative aimed at assessing the actual state of healthcare services on the ground.
Deputy Health Minister Datuk Hanifah Taib said the tour seeks to examine firsthand the needs, challenges and areas for improvement in healthcare delivery, particularly in the Borneo region.
She said that JKB is an initiative by the Ministry of Health (MOH) to obtain a comprehensive overview of the operations of healthcare facilities, including hospitals and clinics across Sarawak.
“Through this tour, we are able to directly observe the real situation on the ground and identify urgent needs that require immediate attention,” she said in a Facebook posting following a briefing at the Sarawak General Hospital today.
She added that JKB Series I is scheduled to cover several locations across Sarawak, involving visits to hospitals and health clinics.
During the visit, she also inspected the hospital’s facilities and services to ensure that healthcare delivery to the public remains at the highest level.
Hanifah said the visit was also joined by senior officials from MOH and the State Health Department (JKNS) to ensure a more comprehensive assessment and to strengthen coordination among relevant agencies.
She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to continuously enhancing the quality of the national healthcare system, particularly in the Borneo region, in line with the current needs of the people.
