KUCHING: The Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sarawak (ACCCIS) will usher in the Year of the Horse with a grand Chinese New Year Dinner themed “Shanghai Night” on Feb 27.
The event, one of its major annual highlights, will be held at Imperial Hotel here at 7pm and officiated by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian.
ACCCIS said the gathering symbolises harmony, prosperity and shared aspirations, bringing together business leaders and stakeholders to celebrate achievements and reinforce collective economic resilience.
“As a leading organisation representing the Chinese business community in Sarawak, we place great importance on fostering goodwill and cooperation through meaningful engagements,” it said in a statement on Monday (Feb 23).
ACCCIS stressed that beyond celebration, the dinner also serves as a strategic networking platform to enhance collaboration and strengthen professional relationships among members and partners.
Council members and representatives from its 22 constituent associations across Kuching, Sri Aman, Sibu, Miri, Sarikei, Bintulu and other divisions are expected to attend.
Delegates from Limbang, Bau, Serian, Saratok, Bintangor, Kapit, Daro, Mukah, Batu Niah, Song, Sibuti, Baram, Lawas, Betong, Kanowit, and Selangau and Satapang will also participate.
Themed “Shanghai Night”, the dinner promises an evening of cultural elegance, reflecting the glamour and vibrancy of old Shanghai while embracing the festive spirit of Chinese New Year.
ACCCIS noted that the event will further strengthen ties between the private sector and government agencies, fostering mutual understanding and shared economic objectives.
Invited guests include members of the Sarawak Cabinet, foreign consuls-general, heads of government departments and agencies, representatives from trade associations, commercial banks and corporate leaders.
“The dinner provides a valuable opportunity for dialogue and partnership-building as we look ahead to new opportunities in the Year of the Horse.”
