MIRI: Members of the public still have time to support children with cancer in Sarawak by registering for GoBald 2025, the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society’s (SCCS) annual awareness and fundraising campaign.

Now in its 17th year, GoBald has become Sarawak’s largest and longest-running head-shaving charity event.

More than a symbolic gesture, it is a powerful act of solidarity with children battling cancer and a critical initiative that funds essential medical and emotional support services.

This year’s first main shave event will be held on June 15 at The Imperial Mall, Miri (Ground Floor Concourse).

Walk-in registration opens at 10:00 am, with the head-shaving ceremony running from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm.

Under the theme ‘Leave Your Mark’, the campaign invites individuals, families, and communities to unite for a cause greater than themselves.

All proceeds directly fund medical aid, specialised treatments, and holistic care programmes for childhood cancer patients.

In 2024, GoBald raised over RM781,000 with over 290 participants shaving their heads.

For 2025, SCCS aims to raise RM1 million and recruit 400 shaves to expand its support network.

The Society’s annual operating cost is approximately RM2 million, with over 70 per cent allocated directly to children and families.

In 2024, expenses rose to RM2.9 million, driven by medical aid exceeding RM500,000.

The event will feature family-friendly activities, culminating in the shaving event and a special performance by Sunflower Centre children.

SCCS encourages the community to attend and support these young warriors. Participants can choose to shave their heads, raise funds, or do both.

Those wishing to participate in SCCS-sponsored shaves are required to raise a minimum of RM50.

Registration remains open through the official campaign website at www.gobald.my.

SCCS extends its sincere appreciation to all sponsors and partners whose generous contributions have been instrumental in the campaign’s success.

Among the main supporters are Ibraco Bhd, along with salon and event partners including Ray’s Salon, Maison Monica Hair & Beauty Academy, Fion Hair Studio, Paul & Jennifer, Danny Hair Academy, and T2H Eternity Saloon.

The society also gratefully acknowledges venue sponsors, AEON Mall Kuching and The Imperial Mall Miri, for their support.

Organisations or individuals interested in corporate social responsibility collaborations or hosting satellite shave events may contact SCCS directly at 082-686276 or via email at eml@sccs.org.my.

Members of the public are encouraged to stay updated on campaign activities by following SCCS’ official social media accounts @sccsmy on Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
