KUCHING: A sum of RM21,456, more than double the initial goal of RM10,000, was raised in aid of children battling cancer by the Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers’ Association (SHEDA) on Sunday.
It hosted a GoBald satellite event in partnership with the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) at its Property Expo 2025 held at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK).
“Every head shaved and every ringgit raised represents courage, compassion, and the community’s commitment to walking alongside children and families facing one of the toughest battles of their lives,” said SCCS president Mary Kiu.
SHEDA renewed its involvement in SCCS’ signature fundraising campaign, GoBald, the largest and only head-shaving event in Sarawak, after last hosting a satellite shave during the Expo in 2022.
Carrying the theme “Leave Your Mark”, the 2025 campaign urged individuals and organisations to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children with cancer and their families.
The GoBald 2025 campaign aims to raise RM1 million and shave 400 heads across Sarawak in support of childhood cancer awareness and care.
Since 2001, SCCS has assisted more than 1,700 families with medical aid, accommodation, emotional support and advocacy, sustained through donor and community contributions.
Members of the public are encouraged to continue supporting the campaign, with donations directed towards sustaining SCCS’ services for children undergoing cancer treatment.
