KUCHING: The first gas available from Shell Malaysia’s TIMI gas and oil project in offshore Bintulu is expected to commence by the end of the year.
Shell Malaysia country chair Siti Hurrairah Sulaiman said that TIMI, which is currently being developed, will have its first gas before the end of the year.
She added that currently, TIMI is ahead of the Rosmari-Marjoram sour gas project where the land has been cleared and the first project’s piling has been recently completed.
Regarding the Rosmari-Marjoram project, Siti said that the project will be one of the biggest Shell projects in Malaysia.
“It is an integrated development. Gas will be produced from our offshore fields in Sarawak and then produced into the plant in Bintulu.
“From the gas plant in Bintulu, it will go to the MLNG (Malaysia LNG) plant to produce LNG (liquefied natural gas),” she said.
Adding on, Siti said once the production begins in 2026 the Rosmari-Marjoram is expected to produce about 750 million standard cubic feet of gas per day
Meanwhile, she revealed that consolidating plans are currently at work in Shell Miri’s headquarters where teams from Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu will be transferred to Miri to add technical upstream presence.
