MUKAH: A rented room above the shop lots in Pasar Lama Mukah has been exposed as a stash point for suspected illegal pills after narcotic police raided the premises, which led to the arrest of a local man with a criminal past.
The district’s Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) conducted the operation at around 10.00 am on Tuesday (following gathered information and intelligence.
Mukah police chief DSP Muhamad Rizal Alias said the 37-year-old suspect was detained for inspection while he was caught inside the room at the time.
“It led to the discovery of 38 plastic packets, each containing six white cross-marked pills believed to be Nospan, with a total of 228 pills found in the suspect’s possession. The drugs were estimated to be worth RM380.

“The suspect and seized pills were taken to Mukah district police headquarters (IPD) for further action, where his urine screening test returned negative for drugs,” he said.
Background checks found that the unemployed suspect has two prior records involving criminal and drug-related offences.
Rizal said the suspect has been remanded for two days until Jan 9 to assist investigations under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952.
Upon conviction, he may face imprisonment for a term of up to five years, fined up to RM100,000, or both.
