BELAGA: The Tasik Balui Natives Association (BLNA), the key representative of the Bakun Resettlement Scheme (BRS) community, has acquired two shop lots at Lokal Centre 1 in Sungai Asap.

The acquisition, made possible through a strategic collaboration with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) under its corporate social responsibility initiative, reflects BLNA’s growing capacity to lead and uplift its community through sustainable development.

The ownership of the two shop lots was formalised during the signing of the Sale and Purchase Agreement between BLNA and Paling Construction Sdn Bhd, witnessed by Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon, alongside local leaders and stakeholders.

The event reflected BLNA’s successful transition from being a voice of advocacy to a driver of economic empowerment within the BRS community.

In his address, Pemanca Tony Kulleh expressed gratitude to SEB for its continued support of the Apau Koyan community, especially in facilitating BLNA’s ownership of the business premises.

“This is a vital beginning for BLNA. The acquisition of these shop lots not only opens up economic opportunities but also strengthens our ability to lead independent and resilient community development,” he said.

Chukpai also commended BLNA for its proactive and matured role in community development.

“I deeply appreciate BLNA’s contribution as a strategic partner capable of turning community aspirations into tangible outcomes. This is the true spirit of development that begins at the grassroots,” he said.

Chukpai also called on SEB to maintain its commitment to collaborative efforts that positively impact the BRS community, noting that this achievement serves as a model of community and corporate cooperation.

He emphasised that BLNA’s role as both beneficiary and active participant in the planning, negotiation and governance of CSR projects demonstrates a transparent and structured approach that can be replicated elsewhere.

Also present were Belaga District Officer Bidah Lujah, SEB Senior Community Relations Manager Irwan Borhan, Paling Construction Sdn Bhd Managing Director Datuk Sia Hiong Ngee, and BLNA’s leadership including Chairman Pemanca Tony Kulleh, Deputy Chairman Pemanca Umek Jeno and Secretary Amit Ului.
