KUCHING: Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar received a courtesy visit from the Sarawak Institute of Arbitration and Dispute Resolution (SiADR) at the Astana Negeri in Petra Jaya on Wednesday (May 14).
The delegation was led by SiADR Chairman Datuk Yew Jen Kie, who briefed the Head of State on the institute’s new leadership lineup and ongoing efforts to promote alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms across Sarawak.
In the one-hour meeting, Yew conveyed the institute’s commitment to work closely with the state government in advancing arbitration and dispute resolution in line with existing legal frameworks.
He highlighted that SiADR, established in 2024, aims to strengthen arbitration and mediation services as effective, inclusive, and cost-efficient avenues for resolving disputes, particularly within the community and corporate sectors.
Wan Junaidi expressed appreciation for the institute’s role in bolstering a professional and independent dispute resolution ecosystem, noting its alignment with the state government’s vision to enhance access to justice and legal institutional capacity.
He also welcomed SiADR’s initiative to forge strategic partnerships with state agencies in developing human capital in the areas of arbitration, mediation, and ADR.
