SIBU: The Sibu District Police’s School Liaison Officers (PSLO) visited several primary and secondary schools throughout the town in conjunction with the First Day at School programme recently.

According to Sibu police chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, the programme, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE), aims to raise awareness of safety among students and curb disciplinary issues in schools.

Among the issues highlighted in the programme are gangsterism, bullying, drug abuse, sexual misconduct, school safety, and discipline.

“The objective of the visit is to enhance students’ awareness of safety and social responsibility while encouraging cooperation between schools and the police in addressing disciplinary matters,” he said in a statement via his Facebook post today.

The programme also provides students with the opportunity to ask questions and obtain information regarding safety and the law.

“It also helps foster a good relationship between students and School Liaison Officers, making students more confident in reporting any issues they may face.

“Such programmes are crucial in ensuring that schools remain safe and conducive environments for learning,” he said.
