SIBU: Sibu Hospital has officially implemented a “cashless transaction system” at all payment counters starting today. Hospital bills must now be paid using debit or credit cards.

Irene Wong, assistant to Sibu Member of Parliament Oscar Ling Chai Yew, also reminded patients about the adoption of the cashless system at all payment counters.

“From now on, hospital bills must be settled using debit or credit cards. To avoid payment issues, the public is advised to ensure they have a debit or credit card ready to cover hospital expenses,” she said in a statement.

Wong, however, suggested that Sibu Hospital consider providing a transitional period with temporary cash payment counters for patients or their families who do not have access to a debit or credit card. She said this would help the public gradually adapt to the new cashless system.

She further explained that with the rapid pace of modernisation, Sibu Hospital has transitioned to a fully cashless transaction system.

“Starting today, members of the public must use credit cards or debit cards (typically offered as a feature on bank-issued ATM cards) to pay for medical bills at Sibu Hospital,” Wong added.
