SIBU: The Sibu Indoor Stadium will host the 2026 Central Zone Convention of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), bringing together more than 3,000 delegates from 24 branches on July 26.

The convention will serve as the opening event in this year’s four-zone PBB convention series, which will subsequently continue in the Southern, Betong and Northern zones.

PBB Secretary-General, Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, said preparations for the convention were progressing smoothly, with several special committees already established to oversee the various aspects of the event.

“Preparations are going well and each committee has been assigned its respective responsibilities to coordinate all aspects of the convention,” he told a press conference after chairing the coordination meeting today for the 2026 PBB Central Zone Convention at the Sibu Indoor Stadium.

He said the convention, themed ‘Jaga Sarawak, Intu Sarawak’, would not only bring delegates together but also strengthen members’ understanding of Sarawak’s development agenda and political direction.

Among the key presentations will be a briefing on the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), to be delivered by Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, as well as a session on the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy 2030 (PCDS 2030).

Nanta added that the speakers for the PCDS 2030 session and presentations on current political developments would be announced in due course.

He also said PBB President and Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, is scheduled to officiate at the convention.

Nanta expressed confidence that the convention would serve as an important platform to strengthen unity between the party leadership and grassroots members while reinforcing their commitment to safeguarding the interests and future of Sarawak.

Among those present at the press conference were PBB Vice-Presidents, Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee, Datuk Len Talif Salleh and Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, as well as PBB Supreme Council members, Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, Datuk Yusuf Abdul Wahab, Lidam Assan and Datuk Abdullah Saidol.
