Sibu MP’s service centre distributes cupcakes in celebration of International Women’s Day

SIBU: In celebration of International Women’s Day, the Sibu Parliamentary Constituency Service Centre team distributed 550 banana cupcakes to women at shops around the Express Bus terminal area here recently.

Sibu MP Oscar Ling Chai Yew stated that International Women’s Day is a significant global occasion, recognising and respecting the contributions of women.

Emphasising that women hold equal status with men, with some nations even having female leaders who play a crucial role in ensuring political stability and governance at both national and international levels, he pointed out that their wisdom and capabilities are widely acknowledged.

He highlighted that women take on multiple roles—as daughters, wives, and mothers. For career women, balancing responsibilities at work and at home is especially demanding.

“Given these challenges, family members, particularly husbands, should show greater understanding and care toward their wives and the women in their families, especially hardworking mothers,” he asserted.

Explaining that giving small cakes or bouquets to women on the auspicious occasion has been an annual initiative of his service centre, he hoped to offer encouragement and encouragement and recognition through this small gesture.

Additionally, on the eve of Women’s Day, Ling and Sarawak DAP political education director Irene Chang Oi Ling also distributed flowers to women at the Goodwill Food Centre, extending their well wishes for a joyful Women’s Day celebration.
