KUCHING: Rumpun Silat Sarawak (RSS) is seeking a meeting with Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and vendors to discuss the alleged outstanding payments in connection with the Sarawak Premier International Silat Championship 2023.

The RSS executive working committee claimed that the information received by the minister regarding the issue might not be accurate.

“We hope the minister would agree to the meeting,” said the working committee in a statement, today.

Abdul Karim had earlier clarified that the Sarawak government was not to be blamed as the allocation requested by the organisers had been channelled to them.

“They (the organisers) have been paid. It was in accordance with the budget that they requested, for which they are very happy.

“The budget was approved and given to them,” Abdul Karim was quoted as saying.

Recently, a social media posting claimed that vendors of the Sarawak Premier International Silat Championship 2023 held in early March were yet to be paid till today by the event organisers.
