SIMUNJAN: Batang Sadong Member of Parliament, Rodiyah Sapiee, has expressed full support for the proposal to upgrade the Simunjan District Police Headquarters (IPD), in line with the rapid development taking place in the area.

According to Rodiyah, the need to enhance security facilities such as the IPD has become increasingly urgent in today’s challenging world.

“We want a more modern, conducive police station that can meet growing security needs,” she said during the IPD Simunjan Hari Raya Aidilfitri Gathering held recently.

Rodiyah shared that she had raised a question in Parliament to the Home Affairs Ministry (KDN) regarding the inclusion of Simunjan IPD in the upgrade projects under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).

As a result of these efforts, Simunjan IPD is now listed under the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Strategic Development Action Plan 2021-2025, and will be included in the Rolling Plan of 13MP.

At present, KDN and PDRM are in the process of identifying a suitable location and resolving land-related issues with the Sarawak government.

In this regard, Rodiyah called on the Simunjan District Police Chief to resubmit the proposal paper for the upgrade to the relevant authorities, while assuring that she will continue to advocate for the proposal to receive serious attention from KDN.

At the same time, she also encouraged the Fire and Rescue Department to submit a proposal to upgrade the Simunjan Fire Station so that it too can benefit from opportunities under the 13MP.
