SIBU: Malaysian songstress, Shila Amzah, lit up the stage during the Rimbunan Hijau Golden Jubilee celebration at Dataran Tun Tuanku Bujang here last night.
Despite a light drizzle, around 10,000 people gathered as early as 6:00 pm to catch the star-studded event.
Shila captivated the audience with five songs, including her signature ballad ‘Patah Seribu’, a 2013 hit she wrote herself, stirring nostalgia among long-time fans.
The celebration also featured a dazzling aerial show of 330 synchronised drones, lighting up the night sky with vibrant patterns.
Women, Family and Community Development Minister, Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri, representing Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, said the audience was fortunate to witness such a rare spectacle.
“Many of us have only seen drone shows on screen. Tonight marks a historic moment with 330 drones illuminating the skies over Sibu for the very first time,” she said.
She also praised the 13-minute fireworks display, programmed by three talented young men from Sibu, saying their creativity and teamwork could potentially earn a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records.
Meanwhile, Rimbunan Hijau Group Managing Director, Datuk Tiong Thai King, said the jubilee was a gesture of appreciation for five decades of public support.
“This celebration is for everyone. We have expanded participation in our 50th anniversary events to include the entire community.
“To make it unforgettable, we have embraced cutting-edge technology, including the drone show and musical fireworks display, showcasing the exciting potential of modern performance art,” he said.
