KUCHING: The proposed Siniawan Multilevel Car Park & Rooftop Arena is expected to boost the little town of Siniawan into a vibrant tourist destination soon.

Serembu Assemblyman, Miro Simuh, said RM28 million has been set aside for the implementation of the project.

He said the Siniawan Multilevel Car Park & Rooftop Arena is one of the economic effect projects that had been approved under the state government’s establishment, the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA).

“We target to start with its implementation in September. The design has been completed.

“Now, we are waiting for the final confirmation and green light from the relevant authority for the project to take off,” he told Sarawak Tribune.

Miro said the actual location of the Siniawan Multilevel Car Park & Rooftop Arena is in front of the Siniawan Swee Guk Kung Temple.

He said the four-level parking facility would include the roof top arena, adding that at the arena, high performance live concert can be held.

“By having a facility of this kind, we can even organise high live concert every month. The roof top arena that we are to have can accommodate 5,000 people.

“I would like to emphasise that this roof top arena is for ticketed events, mainly high performance concert, involving big name celebrities, not just from Malaysia but also from other countries.

“Fans or high-performance live concertgoers will not have to worry about where to park their vehicles because we are to have ample parking space at the facility,” Miro shared.

A high-performance live concert is a musical performance experienced live by an audience, characterised by its high level of technical skill, engaging presentation, and often, a large-scale production.

These concerts go beyond simply playing music; they aim to create a memorable and impactful experience through a combination of factors like skilful musicianship, dynamic stage presence, impressive visuals, and powerful sound.

Miro said food outlets in Siniawan town are going to experience a significant boost in business when the life concerts are held at the roof top arena.

He said this is primarily due to increased foot traffic as concertgoers seek food and drinks before, during, or after the event.

“You just imagine before and after the concert, especially after people watch the concert. I believe many would want to proceed to the nearby Siniawan night market for dinner and drinks.

“Normally, a concert will start at 8:00 pm and last the most for two hours. Standard full concert in Sarawak normally starts at 7:30 pm and ends at 9:30 pm,” he added.

“After that, where do those concert-goers go? They will either to go home straight or proceed to Siniawan night market, to eat and to drink. This will surely boost the local economy.”

Siniawan is already famous for its Night Market, which offers a mesmerising blend of authentic local culture.

The Siniawan Night Market, which is renowned for its picturesque wooden townhouses, captivating wall graffities and zig-zag patterns of Chinese lanterns that create a magical ambiance, has a lot to offer tourists who want to try delicious local food or dishes or snacks.

It is open on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 4:30 pm until 11:00 pm.

As night falls, the lanterns illuminate the street, turning it into a culinary haven with stalls offering bamboo chicken, kueh, satay, kolo mee, laksa, grilled fish, barbeque chicken wing, ais kacang, rojak, char kueh and more.

Miro believes Siniawan town will blend well with the completion of the Siniawan Waterfront, Siniawan Kwan Ying Statue and Siniawan Tourist & History Gallery.
