KUCHING: Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap conducted an inspection visit to SK Satria Jaya on Saturday (Jan 24) to verify the completion of a RM150,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project that addressed critical safety concerns at the school.
Accompanied by officers from the Public Works Department (PWD), Yap inspected repair works that successfully resolved a sinkhole issue which had earlier posed safety risks to the school community.
The sinkhole has been fully rectified and stabilised under PWD supervision, restoring safe conditions for students and teachers.
Besides the sinkhole repairs, the RTP allocation funded several facility upgrades, including the installation of new windows and security grills for the school’s science laboratory, along with general repair works to enhance the safety and functionality of school facilities.
Speaking after the inspection, Yap emphasised his commitment to ensuring approved projects were properly executed and delivered.
“Student safety is non-negotiable. I am pleased that the sinkhole issue has been fully resolved and that additional upgrades were carried out to improve the school environment,” he said.
Yap expressed appreciation to PWD, the contractor and the school administration for their cooperation, while reaffirming his pledge to continue addressing infrastructure needs within the Kota Sentosa Constituency.
