THE Sarawak government has identified a site for the new Kanowit multi-purpose hall project, marking progress toward its long-awaited construction.
Deputy Minister of Public Health, Housing and Local Government Datuk Dr Penguang Manggil confirmed that the Kanowit District Council has identified the project site and will soon submit the land application to the Land and Survey Department for approval.

“The proposed location is at Lot 2619 and Lot 1324, Kanowit Town District, situated next to Tamu Kanowit,” he said during the question-and-answer session in the DUN today.
He was responding to Allan Siden Gramong (GPS–Machan), who had sought updates on the project.
Allan had asked about the latest status of the approved new multi-purpose hall construction project in Pekan Kanowit.
He said the project involves the construction of a new multi-purpose hall capable of accommodating 500 people, complete with essential facilities such as a VIP room, storage room, audio system room, stage, Mechanical Switch Board room, changing room, toilets, and parking area.
“The approved project costs RM5 million,” he added.
