BINTULU: Six vehicles parked at an industrial factory in Samalaju Industrial Park, Jalan Pesisir Bintulu-Miri, caught fire yesterday.
Fortunately, no injuries or casualties were reported in the 4.35 pm incident.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firefighters from Samalaju station were dispatched to the scene, about 4 kilometers away, following a distress call.
Upon arrival, they confirmed that six cars, namely four Proton Sagas, a Perodua Bezza and a Proton Persona, were on fire at the factory’s parking lot.

It was reported that four of the vehicles were completely engulfed while two others sustained partial damages.
Extinguishing works were promptly carried out using water sourced from a pressurised fire hydrant at the factory.
The flames were brought under control at 4.55 pm and overhaul works followed suit to ensure no risk of reignition.
Once the situation was deemed safe, the team ended the operation at 5.30 pm.
The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
