Six-day-old baby among 327 Indonesians repatriated via Tebedu

TEBEDU: A six-day-old baby boy was among 327 Indonesian detainees repatriated via the Tebedu-Entikong land border in two-day operations from Jan 29 to Jan 30.

The Sarawak Immigration Department said the transfer involved detainees from the Bekenu Immigration Depot, comprising 272 adult men and 54 adult women, transported using eight buses.

Representatives from the Indonesian Consulate were present during the operations.

Authorities said the transfer proceeded smoothly, with coordinated logistics, security control and movement monitoring throughout the journey.

No untoward incidents were reported, and the Bekenu Immigration Depot reaffirmed its commitment to conducting detainee transfers in a professional and orderly manner.
