RIO DE JANEIRO: At least six people were killed and another was wounded Friday in a shooting between alleged rival criminal gangs at a party hall in the Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, local authorities said, reported Xinhua.

The shooting took place in the northern Honorio Gurgel neighbourhood, where alleged members of the criminal gang Comando Vermelho were holding a party, the police said.

According to initial investigations, the rival gang Terceiro Comando Puro invaded the venue, triggering an intense exchange of gunfire.

Security forces launched a large-scale raid against Comando Vermelho in Rio de Janeiro on Oct 28, leaving at least 121 people dead. – BERNAMA-XINHUA
