MIRI: Six local men have been arrested in connection with a fight that occurred in Pelita.
The arrests were carried out on December 27 by officers from the Criminal Investigation Division (CID) at the Miri District Police Headquarters (IPD Miri).
The suspects, aged between 22 and 32, are currently being held at the Miri Central Police Station for further investigation.
Miri deputy police chief, Superintendent Nur Ashyikin Abdullah, said that the altercation was believed to have stemmed from a “misunderstanding” between individuals who were intoxicated following Christmas celebrations.
“We appreciate the public’s assistance in sharing information about this incident,” Nur Ashyikin said.
“We urge everyone to exercise caution and remain in control during festive celebrations, particularly when consuming alcohol.”
The case remains under investigation, with police continuing to gather evidence and statements related to the incident.
