SIBU: Six persons were re-appointed as community and village leaders (KMKK) in Bukit Assek constituency for another two-year term.
They are Penghulu Chua Hiong Kee, Kapitan Kuo Chin Woo, Kapitan Peter Lau Ik Yang, Kapitan Sim Tang Siok @ Sim Tang Fei, Tuai Rumah Andrew Jalin Jatok and Tuai Rumah Richard Andor.
They received their re-appointment certificate from acting Sibu District officer Cynthia Ong Hshiang Ping, witnessed by Bukit Assek assemblyman Joseph Chieng Jin Ek. Also present was Sibu Division Iban paramount leader Temenggong Stanley Geramong Bandar.
Speaking at the handover ceremony of the appointment certificate at the District Office in Islamic Complex here on Tuesday (March 25), Chieng stressed on integrity of the KMKK in serving the people.
He pointed out they need to serve the people efficiently with a sincere heart.
“In tandem with Sarawak’s fast-paced growth, there are lot of developments as well as various form of assistances such as Sarawak Basic Needs Assistance (SKAS), Sarawak Senior Citizen Health Benefit Scheme and Kenyalang Gold Card.”
As such, he advised the KMKK to keep abreast of all these information, especially in their respective areas to serve and explain to the people.
“I believe the District Office and Welfare Department here are more than happy to arrange a seminar to equip the KMKK with needed information in order to serve the people effectively,” Chieng futher stated.
Meanwhile, Ong hoped the appointed KMKK will always carry out the trust well and be responsible for carrying out their tasks.
She noted that KMKK plays an important role as a grassroots leader.
“KMKK needs integrity and exemplary role to serve the people effectively, and to listen attentively to the people’s complaints and cooperate with all parties for the sake of Bukit Assek’s progress and wellbeing,” Ong stressed.
