SIBU: After six attempts at various beauty pageant competitions since 2022, luck finally favoured Clarissa Rinya Setian as she was crowned the Kumang (champion) for Karnival Kebudayaan Durin (KKD) last night (April 29).

The 20-year-old Sungai Bidut lass went home with RM5,000 in cash along with a crown and various other complementary prizes.

“This is actually my sixth attempt, before this, the highest title I ever achieved was Selinggar Matahari (third place), so I feel very excited and touched because my efforts have not been in vain.

“Finally, I managed to bring home the title of Kumang KKD 2024,” she said when contacted today.

When asked on her advices for other beauty pageant enthusiast out there who also wish to compete in such competition, she hopes that they would not give up.

“Keep striving if you want to achieve your dreams. Winning and losing are part of the competition. Don’t easily give up as long as your passion and dreams are not fulfilled.
