KUCHING: SJK Chung Hua No. 5 is making an impact on its students by exposing them early to drone technology and future career pathways by organising the UAV AeroSpark@CH5 Workshop.
Held recently in collaboration with the Zeitgeist team, the programme provided hands-on learning aimed at equipping pupils with essential digital and technological skills.
The initiative is part of the school’s ongoing effort to enhance digital education as it moves towards becoming a Future School.
During the workshop, students were introduced to the basic components and functions of drones, as well as their real-world applications in fields such as science, geography, agriculture, engineering and media.
Participants also practised basic flying techniques, including safe take-off and landing, understanding flight limits, avoiding danger zones, respecting privacy, and caring for equipment.
The use of drones is also expected to support co-curricular activities, including recording school events and assisting in campus mapping.
The programme further encouraged STEM-based learning, enabling students to apply principles of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through creative drone activities.
The aerial view experience also made the session more immersive and engaging for students.
Headmistress Tay Kok Ing expressed appreciation to Zeitgeist Inspira Technology Sdn Bhd for their guidance, the teachers for their planning and coordination, parents for their support, and the students for their active participation.
