KUCHING: SJKC Chung Hua No.1 Kuching is set to undergo several key infrastructure upgrades following the allocation of RM196,964 from the office of Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament, Dr Kelvin Yii Lee Wuen.

According to a statement, the funding is intended to improve the overall learning environment for students and enhance the safety and comfort of school facilities.

The allocation will cover four major projects identified by the school, beginning with the installation of stage lighting and a sound system in the school hall.

These enhancements are designed to support extracurricular activities, performances, and school assemblies, offering students improved audio-visual experiences.

New furniture will also be purchased to replace old and worn-out items, contributing to a more comfortable and conducive classroom setting.

Additionally, to address excessive heat and sun exposure, sun louvres will be installed throughout the building to help lower indoor temperatures and improve energy efficiency.

The most critical upgrade will involve repairs to the roof and ceiling, aimed at ensuring structural integrity and preventing future issues caused by leaks or deterioration.

“Education is the most worthwhile investment for the future. We have both the responsibility and the duty to create better learning spaces for the next generation.

“Whether it’s in terms of teaching equipment, school safety, or student well-being, we must continue to improve,” said Dr Yii.

He also expressed his appreciation to the school for its cooperation, and hoped the upgrading works can be completed swiftly so that both students and teachers may begin to benefit from the improvements without delay.

He reaffirmed his commitment to supporting schools across his constituency through the parliamentary allocation mechanism, stressing the importance of equitable access to resources across both urban and rural educational institutions.

“Every child, regardless of their community background, deserves access to the same quality education,” he concluded.
