PETALING JAYA: TotalEnergies, in collaboration with Arus Academy, continues to strengthen student learning and leadership through the VIA Safe Mobility programme, a global educational initiative that aims to improve road safety and mobility conditions for young people.

Now in its fourth year in Malaysia, the 2025 edition saw Team Safety Squad from SJKC Chung Hua Tudan, Miri, emerge as the Malaysian champion, driven by strong school-wide engagement and impactful road-safety advocacy.

As national winners, the school received a €5,000 grant from TotalEnergies to implement and further promote its safety initiatives within the school community.

The achievement also placed Malaysia on the international stage, with the team representing the country at the VIA Safe Mobility Regional International Finals alongside champions from India, Iraq and Romania, among participants from 24 VIA-participating countries across the region.

SJKC Chung Hua Tudan is located adjacent to the Jalan Kuala Baram Bypass, a high-speed roadway officially identified as one of Miri’s most accident-prone roads.

Its proximity to fast-moving traffic has made road safety a daily concern for both pupils and teachers, underscoring the relevance of the school’s advocacy work.

The VIA Safe Mobility programme focuses on empowering students to identify real-world mobility risks and develop practical solutions, while fostering leadership, civic responsibility and community awareness through hands-on learning.
