SIBU: In this rapidly changing and challenging era, the responsibility of teachers is greater than ever before.

Pointing out this, SJKC Kiang Hin Management Board Chairman, Kapitan So Teck Kee, said besides academic teaching, teachers must also guide students to develop proper values, responsibility and patriotism.

“Therefore, we should cherish and respect every educator, and offer them our sincerest applause and gratitude,” he said at SJKC Kiang Hin’s Teachers’ Day celebration cum retirement ceremony for teacher, Siew Wu Ming, held at the school’s multipurpose hall in Teku here today (May 22).

At the same time, a series of activities in conjunction with the school’s centennial anniversary celebration was also launched.

So also stressed that education is a noble and far-reaching mission while teachers are the ones who ignite hope and dreams in students.

Day after day, he pointed out, teachers stand before their students not only to impart knowledge but also to shape character, inspire wisdom and nurture moral values.

He said many successful individuals in society today owed their achievements to teachers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes.

Touching on the retirement of Siew, he stated that she has served in the field of education for 36 years, including 29 and a half years devoted to SJKC Kiang Hin.

He noted that she has dedicated the best years of her life, together with her passion and commitment, to the school and its students.

For decades, he added, she has consistently upheld the spirit of dedication in education, patiently guiding and nurturing countless students towards success.

“To many students, she is not only a responsible teacher but also a mentor who has profoundly influenced their lives.

“The greatness of a teacher does not lie in fame or glory but in years of perseverance and sacrifice; not in the amount of applause received, but in the success of students everywhere,” he said.

“Siew’s decades of dedication truly reflect the beauty and spirit of education. Retirement today is not an ending but the beginning of another wonderful chapter in life.”

So hoped all students will always remain grateful, appreciate the guidance of their teachers, study diligently and grow to become pillars of society who will one day bring pride to their teachers and alma mater.

Among those present were Kapitan Lau Sei Kwong, who represented Deputy Minister for Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Datuk Michael Tiang Ming Tee; and SJKC Kiang Hin’s headmaster, Ling Ing Kiong.
