KUCHING: A total of RM780,000 has been allocated to SK St Alban to support infrastructure upgrades and improve the school’s learning environment.

Two Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) cheques were handed over to the school by Kota Sentosa state assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Sau Sin, and witnessed by Anglican Bishop, Datuk Danald Jute, highlighting the Sarawak Government’s commitment to enhancing educational facilities.

“Education development is the foundation for community progress. We want every child in Kota Sentosa to have the best possible environment to learn and grow,” Yap said during the cheque presentation today.

He explained that the first allocation of RM400,000 will be used to upgrade Block B, improve the pre-school building, and enhance the school’s open hall, which doubles as a covered court for various activities.

The second allocation of RM380,000 is earmarked for upgrading the school library, improving the parking area, and refurbishing the classroom block to ensure safer and more conducive learning spaces.

He highlighted that the continuous support from the Sarawak Government through UNIFOR reflects a strong commitment to providing students in the constituency with safe, comfortable, and effective educational facilities.

He added that collaboration between the government, schools, and religious institutions is crucial to ensuring development funds are efficiently channelled toward long term community benefits.

“The upgrades funded under UNIFOR are part of ongoing efforts to support mission schools, many of which play a vital role in serving diverse communities across Sarawak.

“The infrastructure improvements at SK St Alban are expected to begin soon, with project timelines coordinated between the school, contractors, and relevant agencies to ensure smooth implementation,” he said.
