JULAU: The completion of a clean water supply system at SK Ulu Entaih has been hailed as a significant step in improving basic facilities for rural schools.

The upgraded facility now provides 74 pupils and 22 staff members with reliable access to clean water, improving daily operations and creating a more conducive learning environment.

Meluan assemblyman Datuk Rolland Duat Jubin praised the initiative, describing it as a meaningful contribution to the wellbeing of the interior community.

He also highlighted the role of private-sector partnerships, citing Watersafe Sdn Bhd’s efforts as an example of how such collaborations can help address long-standing infrastructure gaps in remote schools.

“Many interior institutions continue to face limited access to essential services, making the new facility at SK Ulu Entaih, a timely intervention for both pupils and teachers.

“This effort brings real impact to the safety, health and wellbeing of our pupils and teachers.

“As the elected representative, I deeply appreciate that such assistance has reached a school in Meluan,” he said recently.

Rolland added that the project reflects the strength of corporate social responsibility (CSR) when aligned with community needs, particularly in historically underdeveloped areas.

“This is a CSR model worth emulating because the benefits go directly to those who need them most,” he said.

He also hoped more organisations would step forward to support rural schools, stressing that sustained collaboration is key to narrowing development gaps in interior regions.

“This is not only about providing water. It is about giving rural children the same dignity and opportunity enjoyed by those in urban areas,” he said.

Meanwhile, the new facility is expected to enhance hygiene standards, simplify daily routines and contribute to a more comfortable environment for teaching and learning at the school.
