KUCHING: The Sarawak Government will credit this year’s Sarawak Basic Necessities Contribution (SKAS) to eligible recipients ahead of Hari Raya Aidilfitri, helping households prepare for the festive season.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the aid is being distributed during Ramadan so that recipients can receive it in time for the festivities.
“Eligible recipients can check SarawakPay to see if the contribution has been credited, enabling them to purchase essential items,” he said at the 2026 Raya Contribution event at Kompleks Satria Pertiwi today.
He stressed that SKAS demonstrates the government’s commitment to public welfare, particularly in helping citizens secure daily necessities.
“This initiative ensures that kitchens remain ‘smoking’, and when policies prioritise the people’s interests, it eases daily life,” he added.
This year, the Sarawak Government increased SKAS allocations as part of efforts to strengthen Sarawak’s social safety net.
Households earning RM5,000 and below will receive RM950 per year, up from RM800, with each payment amounting to RM316.
Senior citizens without a spouse or children earning RM5,000 and below will receive RM500 per year, up from RM400, with RM166 per payment.
Single individuals earning RM2,500 and below will get RM300 per year, up from RM250, with RM100 per payment.
