SARAWAK Government will continue assisting eligible individuals in activating their respective S Pay Global applications to ensure full disbursement of the Sumbangan Keperluan Asas Sarawak (SKAS) aid to recipients.
Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas (PBB-Betong) said the total number of individuals eligible for SKAS is 886,288 people.
“As of May 13, a total of 758,483 individuals or 85 per cent of the eligible recipients received the aids through the S-Pay Global e-wallet,” he said when replying to Royston Valentine (GPS-Tellian) during the question-and-answer session at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting here today.
Uggah said the disbursement of SKAS through an e-wallet is one of the Sarawak Government’s initiatives to transform the economy towards a digital economy, as outlined in the Sarawak Digital Economy Master Plan 2030.
“The shift to digital technology will drive Sarawak’s economy to become more competitive globally, leveraging data and innovation.
“By developing a digital ecosystem, such as the disbursement of SKAS via e-wallet, Sarawak has the potential to emerge as a leader in technological development in the region, thereby contributing to more rapid economic growth and a high-income economy,” he said.
Uggah said the total financial implication for the household category is RM328.4 million.
“For the Household category, 410,529 recipients will receive RM800 each,” he said.
As for the single category, the total financial implication amounts to RM90.3 million.
“For the Single category, 361,295 recipients will receive RM250 each,” he said.
For the senior citizen category, the financial implication amounts to RM45.8 million.
“Meanwhile, the Senior Citizen category involves 114,464 recipients who will receive RM450 each,” he said.
