KUCHING: A two-day Kuching Dodgeball Open Tournament (KDOT), drew 150 players from Singapore, Brunei, West Malaysia and across Sarawak.

Organised by the Kuching Dodgeball Association (KDA) it was held on Dec 6-7 at the NBL Arena, also known as the Sarawak Basketball Association Court.

The tournament served as a major competitive platform for both regional and Kuching-based dodgeball talent.

Skatepark emerged champion after delivering an impressive performance throughout the competition, defeating team Nutcho 3-1 in the final match, while Tuak Warriors secured third spot, placing Kuching’s competitive dodgeball scene firmly in the regional spotlight.

The event also saw Skatepark’s Nicholas Tan Lih Meng and Lau Yuen Shuen honoured as Male and Female Most Valuable Players respectively, highlighting their strong experience and technical skill displayed throughout KDOT 2025.

Tournament director and main organiser, Rhyshaune Lee, expressed satisfaction with the overall turnout and competitive spirit shown over the weekend.

“KDOT 2025 reflects how much dodgeball has grown in Kuching and how far our community is willing to go to elevate this sport. We are proud to bring together teams from different countries and regions, and even prouder to see our local players stand their ground. This tournament is not just about winning, it is about building a strong, united dodgeball community,” he said.

Lee added that KDA will continue aligning its programmes with Sarawak’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 by strengthening youth-focused initiatives and long-term development pathways.
