THE Ministry of Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development has set up Women Skills Training (WST) centres and implemented their programme in several districts in the state.

Assistant Minister of Early Childhood Education and Family Development Rosey Yunus said her ministry has a system to monitor the performances of those attending the programme.

“We offer culinary, spa, makeup, and tailoring courses,” she told the State Legislative Assembly sitting yesterday.

Rosey added that up to this year, WST centres have been set up and their programmes promoted in Maludum, Pus and Sebuyau.

“Areas in Simunjan and Jemoreng will soon have the centres,” she said in reply to a supplementary question from Datuk Dr Juanda Jaya (GPS-Jemoreng).

She said other than ICT courses which could take four days to complete, the rest of the courses last only two days.

“As I have mentioned earlier, we can monitor those who have completed the courses, and we do have success stories among them where they are earning more than RM1,200 per month,

“I believe such courses will help women and youth acquire better skills which will enable them to their incomes,” she said.
