KUCHING: The recent Toastmasters Leadership Institute (TLI) Training for Club Officers emphasised the critical need for leaders to develop practical skills to flourish in today’s dynamic global landscape.

Held under the theme “Dream It, Do It” at i-CATS University College on Sunday, the session saw 79 club officers from various Kuching Toastmasters clubs participate.

Recognising the shift towards online and hybrid meetings, the training itself embraced this change. It included participation from online-only clubs with members in Kuching and beyond, fostering a global exchange of ideas.

Division D Director and Distinguished Toastmaster (DTM) Lucy Ho Jia Yiing said that Division D is comprised of 14 Kuching-based clubs, with members from across Sarawak, Sabah, Australia, Dubai, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand.

“These biannual training sessions significantly enhance the services we offer members on their communication and leadership journeys.

“Club officers play a vital role in supporting members’ personal and professional development goals.
“Our club officers are adept at navigating change and leveraging digital tools to lead their clubs in this dynamic environment,” she said in a statement.

Lucy said that the training was facilitated by Senior District 87 Officers: District 87 Director Miranda Rumi, DTM (Session 1: Leading the Club to Success) and Program Quality Director Suharjo Setio, DTM (Session 2: Build a Quality Club).

She, along with Assistant Programme Quality Director Joanna Then, led the third session on Moments of Truth.

Toastmasters International is a non-profit organisation that empowers individuals to become more effective communicators and leaders through a global network of supportive clubs.
