KUCHING: Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Sacred Heart here has become the first national primary school in Kuching to equip every classroom with smart televisions (TVs), setting a benchmark for digital education in the region.

This ground-breaking initiative is part of a programme by Stampin MP Chong Chieng Jen, through his service centre, aimed at enhancing teaching and learning experiences in schools across the constituency.

“Starting this year, we have begun supplying smart TVs to national primary schools in Stampin to facilitate teaching and make learning more engaging for students,” Chong said during the ‘Ke Arah Pembudayaan Digital’ event at SK Sacred Heart recently.

Chong assured that the programme will continue next year to ensure all national primary schools in Stampin are equipped with smart TVs in every classroom.

This, he said, is in line with the government’s policy of digitalisation of education.

“In this era of technology, digitalisation is no longer a want but a need.

“Therefore it is best that we start to expose our school children to such technology as soon as possible at their tender age so that they will not be left behind,” he added.

He expressed gratitude to teachers for embracing the challenge of adapting to new teaching tools and methods, despite the learning curve involved.

Chong also invited other schools to apply for the programme through his service centre, reiterating his commitment to improving educational resources.

“Our teachers have gone beyond their usual scope of work to master these new technologies for the benefit of their students.

“We welcome applications from schools in the constituency and will strive to provide the best for our children’s education,” he said.
