MIRI: Theodora Pei Ern Huei, a Form 5 student from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Merbau, has earned a coveted spot as one of four Malaysian finalists for the 2025 Hippo English Olympiad World Finals to be held in Assisi, Italy.
She will compete on the international stage from Sept 29 to Oct 1, showcasing her English language proficiency alongside top young learners from around the globe.
The Hippo English Olympiad, organised by the Italy-based Global Hippo Association in partnership with the UK’s Gatehouse Awards, is a renowned international competition aimed at promoting English language proficiency among non-native speakers aged 6 to 19.
The contest follows the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), offering participants a pathway to globally recognised qualifications.
Participants undergo a rigorous selection process, advancing through preliminary, national, and regional rounds before reaching the World Finals.
