KUCHING: SMK Sri Matang emerged as champions of the MSSB (Divisional School Sports Council) Kuching Division Under-15 Football Tournament 2025, defeating SMK Bako 1-0 in a tightly contested final.
According to a press statement issued today by the Office of the Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak, the tournament took place from June 30 to July 4 and featured 36 secondary school teams from across the Kuching Division.
The event showcased young football talent among students aged 15 and below, with SMK Sri Matang demonstrating consistent performance throughout the five-day competition to secure the championship.
In the third-place playoff, SMK Bandar Samariang claimed victory over SMK Sematan with a 2-1 win.
The tournament concluded with a closing ceremony officiated by Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Sarawak, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, who also serves as the State assemblyman for N.5 Demak Laut.
During the event, Dr Hazland emphasised the role of sports in holistic student development, promoting unity, character-building, and a healthy lifestyle among the younger generation.
The press statement noted that the tournament served not only as a competitive platform but also as an opportunity to promote discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship among students.

The tournament was organised by SMK Bako as the main host, with support from several co-hosting schools in the division.
