SIMUNJAN: The completion of the infrastructure project at SMK Sri Sadong marks a key milestone in upgrading rural Sarawak’s educational facilities.

It is in line with national goals to create a modern, inclusive and conducive learning environment.

Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that the RM28.73 million project, which includes the construction of an academic block comprising 12 classrooms, five units of teachers’ quarters, and other supporting facilities, was officially handed over ahead of schedule.

“The project is one of the key initiatives under the Malaysia MADANI Government, spearheaded through the Ministry of Works and the Public Works Department (PWD) Malaysia.

“The main objective of this project is to upgrade the educational infrastructure in rural areas to be in line with national aspirations, and to strengthen a modern, conducive and inclusive teaching and learning ecosystem that fosters excellence among our children.

“We are not merely building structures, but in fact, we are building hope and the future, by turning schools into a space where the future generation can grow to be knowledgeable, ethical, tech-savvy and competitive,” he said.

He said this in his speech during the officiating ceremony for the handover completion on school projects at SMK Sri Sadong, Simunjan, here on Sunday.

He said the project’s implementation is not only aimed at fulfilling the school’s physical infrastructure needs, but also at inspiring renewed spirit among teachers and students, while strengthening the school’s legacy of excellence in academics and human capital development.

“The ministry and PWD remain committed to fulfilling the responsibility of building and delivering high-impact projects that truly benefit the people,” he added.

He said the timely completion and handover of another project demonstrates that the MADANI Government’s aspirations are not just rhetoric, but are being realised through quality, punctual projects that bring real value to the community.

“I hope and pray that the educational facilities provided will be fully utilised and well-maintained by the entire school community so that they remain sustainable and functional for generations to come, as centres for nurturing excellent future generations of Sarawak,” said Nanta.
