KUCHING: The construction of Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Sri Samarahan is progressing well, with physical completion now at 96.4 per cent.
The new school is scheduled to be fully completed by Nov 2025, in line with the project timeline set earlier.
According to the Public Works Department (JKR) Samarahan Division, the project scope includes the construction of 42 classrooms, three Special Education Integration Programme (PPKI) classrooms, and various facilities aimed at providing a more comfortable and conducive learning environment.
JKR Samarahan Division is overseeing the project.
It was previously reported that the school would be the key to solve the problem of overcrowding of students in the area.
The school is expected to accommodate a total of 1,500 students from Desa Ilmu area and the village area covering Kampung Meranek up to Kampung Mata Parang.
