KUCHING: SMK Sungai Tapang is set to undergo significant upgrades under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP), with a total allocation of RM500,000 spread across two phases.
The 2025 RTP allocation, amounting to over RM300,000, will be used for the renovation and extension of the school canteen, construction of a walkway, installation of six air-conditioning units in the teachers’ room, and general repairs to school facilities.
Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap Yau Sin, during a meeting with the school’s principal, teachers, and representatives from the Parents and Teachers Association (PTA), also highlighted the 2024 RTP allocation of RM200,000 for the construction of a grandstand at the school’s sports ground.
“In our discussion, I urged the Public Works Department (PWD) officers to expedite the completion of technical drawings and the bill of quantities, so that the project tendering and award process can begin as soon as possible,” Yap said.
Yap reaffirmed his commitment to improve educational infrastructure in Kota Sentosa, noting that every student deserves access to a conducive learning environment equipped with proper facilities.
“Looking ahead, more RTP initiatives will be implemented to ensure that all schools within my constituency benefit from necessary upgrades that will empower our future generations,” he added.
