Smuggling attempt foiled by 11RAMD

LUNDU: At 9am yesterday, the scouts of the 11th Battalion of the Royal Malay Regiment (11RAMD) conducted a border survey at an oil palm plantation near Kandaie here.

After three hours of close observation, led by Mej Noor Azmeer Mat Sani, several vehicles were seen making its way towards the Indonesian border.

Three fully-loaded lorries and a four-wheel-drive Toyota Hilux were stopped from entering Indonesian border by the 11RAMD scouts. The three lorries was carrying 1,200 boxes of frozen tilapia and Dory, with every box worth RM80.

The smuggler was identified as an Indonesian residing in Lundu.

All in all, RM296,000 worth of products were confiscated and seven suspects were arrested for attempting to smuggle loots using an invalid route to Indonesia. They were brought to Lundu’s Police Headquarters and handed over to the police for further action.
