PADAWAN: A snatch theft attempt turned fatal yesterday (Dec 28) when a local man died after crashing his motorcycle into the gate of the General Operations Force (GOF) Brigade base while attempting to escape.
Padawan police chief Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi in a statement, said that the incident happened at around 1.30 pm at Jalan Field Force, Batu Kawa.
“The 32-year-old suspect reportedly snatched a handbag from a woman, who was travelling on a motorcycle with her husband and child.
“The suspect attempted to flee the scene, but he ended up crashing into the GOF base gate,” he said.
Mohd Irwan said the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.
The case is being investigated under Section 392 of the Penal Code for robbery and Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless riding.
