KUCHING: Sarawak-based technology firm, SOCOE Holdings Sdn Bhd (SOCOE), is proud to support Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Campus (Swinburne Sarawak) Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Science (FECS) Final Year Project Showcase for Semester 1.
It was held on Thursday at the university’s premise.
Themed ‘People in STEM Can Work Together to Build a Better World’, the showcase featured an exciting exhibition of final-year students’ year-long research, innovation, and technology projects.
“This endeavour aligns with the company’s core values and principles, investing in the next generation of Sarawakians.
“This is more than a sponsorship; it’s an investment in future leaders.
“We want to empower students to turn knowledge into action, and ambition into impact,” said SOCOE Managing Director, JW Sam.
“Setting the students up for success by providing hands-on experience and opportunity to solve real world problems to bridge the gap between education and employment.
“This ensures that every student is not only academically accomplished but also fully prepared to take on real-world challenges from day one,” he added.
The collaboration between SOCOE and Swinburne Sarawak is a series of ongoing partnerships aligned with the state’s Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly its goal of developing a skilled and future-proof workforce.
As part of this initiative, SOCOE also contributed by sponsoring awards to recognise outstanding student achievements during the event.
A total of eight awards were presented across three groups and five individual categories.
The group categories were ‘The Best Group Award for Computer Science’, ‘The Best Group Award for Science’, and ‘The Best Achiever’s Award for Computer Science’, while the individual categories celebrated top-performing students in engineering fields, such as robotics & mechatronics, civil, mechanical, chemical, and electrical & electronic engineering.
This partnership followed several initiatives by Swinburne Sarawak to enrich the learning experience via direct exposure to the latest technologies, artificial intelligence (AI)-powered systems, and professional best practices, ensuring industry readiness in a fast-paced and highly competitive work environment.
“We are committed to challenging our students beyond the classroom, encouraging them to think critically, innovate boldly, and deliver solutions that can have a tangible impact,” said Swinburne Sarawak FECS Dean, Ir. Professor Su Hieng Tiong.
