KUCHING: Solarvest Holdings Bhd has further increased its stake in Hartanah Kenyalang Bhd after acquiring 5.95 million shares through a direct business transaction.
The latest acquisition raised Solarvest’s holdings to 94.95 million shares, equivalent to a 13.922 per cent stake, according to Hartanah’s filing with Bursa Malaysia.
Solarvest first emerged as a substantial shareholder on May 28 after subscribing for 45 million shares in Hartanah’s private placement, giving it a 6.6 per cent interest. It later acquired another 44 million shares through a direct business transaction on July 15.
Separately, Hartanah has appointed Lim Chin Siu, 46, as a non-independent, non-executive director.
Lim holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom.
He began his career with Lim Electric Company in 2003 before co-founding electrical contracting firm Dynamic Primajaya Sdn Bhd in 2006. He joined Solarvest’s wholly owned subsidiary, Atlantic Blue Sdn Bhd, full-time in 2013 and currently serves as a director of both Solarvest and Kee Ming Group Bhd. Hartanah also appointed Datu Monaliza Zaidel, 62, as an independent, non-executive director.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut, United States, an MBA from Ohio University and a Master of Science in Information Systems and Technology from City University London.
Monaliza previously served with the Sarawak Public Works Department before being seconded to LCDA Holdings Bhd to oversee property management. In 2020, she was seconded to the Chief Minister’s Department to support its innovation unit before being appointed general manager of LCDA and chief executive officer of LCDA Real Estate Sdn Bhd. She is currently chairman of Puncak Borneo Development Sdn Bhd, which is leading the redevelopment of Borneo Highlands in Padawan.
Meanwhile, Bintulu Port Holdings Bhd (BPHB) has appointed Abang Jimmy Abang Mordian, 50, as a non-independent, non-executive director with effect from Aug 1.
Abang Jimmy graduated in electrical engineering from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and later obtained a Master of Business Administration from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is currently managing director and chief executive officer of the Malaysia LNG group of companies.
The appointment follows the resignation of Mohamed Syazwan Abdullah @ Laga, 62, who ceased as a director representing Petroliam Nasional Bhd (PETRONAS) following his reassignment within the group.
