KUCHING: Site-related issues involving 19 development projects worth RM49 million in the Kabong constituency will be resolved promptly to allow their implementation to proceed as scheduled.
The matter was among the key issues discussed during a site coordination meeting attended by Kabong assemblyman Datuk Chee Kadir at the Sarawak Legislative Assembly complex here recently.
Chee said site issues raised by the implementing agencies must be coordinated immediately with the relevant parties to prevent delays in project implementation.
He said close attention would also be given to the status of each project to ensure the planned development projects could progress to the next stage according to the established procedures.
Based on the presentation, 19 projects in the Kabong constituency comprise 16 projects under the Public Works Department (JKR) and three under the Saratok District Council (MDS).
These form part of 49 projects involving eight state constituencies.
Among the projects listed are the construction and upgrading of facilities at Tanjung Kembang Beach, a hawker centre at Gerigat Beach, a food court and homestay for the Kabong Area Fishermen’s Association, as well as boat terminals at Sungai Endot and Kampung Emplam.
Also included are the construction of Kampung Gerigat Fishermen’s Jetty, Kampung Nyabor Community Hall and the Kampung Hilir Laut RC ramp, along with several community halls and longhouses in the Kabong and Ulu Roban areas.
The locations involved include Kampung Alit, Kampung Gerigat, Kampung Emplam and Kampung Sessage, as well as several longhouses in Kabong and Ulu Roban.
Meanwhile, some projects are still listed as ‘Application Not Made’, while several others are ‘Awaiting Approval’, including projects at Tanjung Kembang Beach, Kampung Gerigat Fishermen’s Jetty and Kampung Hilir Laut RC ramp.
The meeting, chaired by the Sarawak Implementation Monitoring Unit (SIMU), served as a coordination platform for the relevant parties to review site-related issues and identify matters requiring follow-up action before the projects proceed to the next stage of implementation.
